Hardware and Terminals for Digital Manufacturing Processes
Digital manufacturing processes can only function reliably if the end devices used are suited to the production environment. For decades, A+B Solutions has been developing solutions designed for direct use on the production floor. This experience also informs the selection and design of the hardware.
A+B industrial PCs are manufactured in Germany and are designed for reliable operation under industrial conditions. Additional components also enable the integration of various machines and control systems into the existing IT infrastructure.
Another advantage: With A+B, software, end devices, and machine integration all come from a single source. This means customers do not receive disparate components, but rather a solution that can be tailored to their specific manufacturing application.
A+B Industrial PCs for Use in Manufacturing
The IPCs (industrial PCs) from A+B Solutions bring applications and manufacturing information directly to the workstation. They are suitable, for example, for DNC, BDE, MES, or other browser-based applications.
The development process prioritizes ruggedness and long-term reliable operation. Depending on the task, various models and screen sizes are available. RFID or barcode readers can be integrated, as can suitable mounts for the respective workplaces.
Mobile Workstations
Not every task can be performed effectively at a fixed terminal. Mobile workstations bring the necessary PC functionality to wherever information is needed or data is being collected.
Employees can access higher-level systems and enter data directly at the point of operation. Wi-Fi and an uninterruptible power supply support mobile operations. If needed, barcode scanners or label printers can be added, for example.
Connecting Machines and Control Systems
In many manufacturing environments, machines from different generations operate side by side. The available interfaces vary accordingly. A+B Solutions uses proven components to integrate even older or uniquely connected machines into the digital manufacturing environment.
Com-Server++ connects a device with a serial RS232, RS422, or RS485 interface to the network via a serial port. This allows even control systems that do not have their own network interface to be further integrated.
The Web-IO provides 12 digital inputs and 12 digital outputs over the network. Machine statuses and other digital signals can thus be captured, or corresponding signals can be output and used for further applications in manufacturing IT.
Software and Hardware from a Single Source
The choice of hardware depends on the application and the existing production environment. That’s why A+B Solutions considers not only the individual device but also its role within the overall digital process.
The combination of in-house software expertise, experience in machine integration, and suitable end devices facilitates seamless coordination. Customers receive a solution in which the individual components work together reliably, and A+B, as their point of contact, understands the big picture.
